Home Office Essentials: 5 Things You Need

“I believe your home should tell your story. What you love most collected and assembled in one place.”

Nate Burkus, American Interior Designer

The road was long and road, fraught with turmoil. The battle raged, and you won. Despite all the odds, your kids screaming (or worse, spouse), you’ve finally carved out a spot in your home to setup your home office.

You are now a work at home parent! Then you ask, what now?

I have you covered. Whether you’re decor challenged or just looking for a few ideas to augment your own style, I’ve put together a list of home office essentials no workspace should be without. So sit back, enjoy (maybe drool) and read on.

The Perfect Desk

Years ago, the first desk I had in my home office was a TV trey. OK, full disclosure, I was 8 at the time. But in my defense, I had “borrowed” pens and paper from my mother’s home office and needed somewhere to put them. Well, maybe that doesn’t help my case much. Moving on…

The cornerstone of any office is the desk. It’s the first noticeable piece of furniture. Your weapons of choice while tackling the work day are littered across it; and maybe one or two of the kid’s toys.

So, as you can see, the choice of which desk to use has to be carefully considered.

Today, you’re in luck! Check this out.

Bestier 63″ Computer Desk

This is a very versatile desk and perfect for a home office with limited space. I’m a sucker for multi-use items, so this really caught my eye. The shelves on this desk can be switched either to the right or left side depending on how your room decor is configured.

If you use a desktop PC for your office computer, one of the selves at the bottom can be removed allowing you to place the tower on it. Handy isn’t it?

With a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from over 10,000 ratings, it’s safe to say that many people are happy with this purchase.

Elephance Folding Computer Desk

Does your office moonlight as a play space for the kids in the afternoon? Or maybe you just need something a bit more compact.

Check out this desk made by Elephance. It’s just the right size for a compact home office. So, whether you’re limited on space because of the kids or maybe your working from a dorm room, this desk may be for you.

Whats-more, when not in use, it’s easily fordable, opening up more space for other activities.

HROOME Unique Dog Lamp

Ok, I’ll admit it. I may have picked this one because of it’s cuteness. Maybe 90% so in fact. What what’s not to love?

Who could say no to a lamp shaped like an adorable doggy. This lamp isn’t all bark and no bite however *coughs*. It features a 2700k 6 watt LED bulb to lighten up your work space.

Furthermore, because it’s hinged, you can position it any way you like. It also has a good number of positive reviews to boot!

6 Cube Orginizer

Who doesn’t love cubbies? I mean, seriously, you can store anything in them. If your like my wife, you can never have too much storage space. The reason I liked these as soon as I saw them was because they can be arranged in any configuration you want.

Plus, with their large size they can keep a good amount of office clutter at bay.

Vector Robot by Anki

Admit it! You though I was being silly with the dog lamp, right? Well, try this one on for size. If robots do end up taking over the world, they may do so with cute little faces like this Vector robot has.

Aside from looking cute, this little guy has a few tricks up his sleeve to keep you on task and organized. You can check the weather, set timers and alarms etc. But it gets better… He has Amazon’s Alexa built right into him!

You can have your very own cuddly robot assistant at your fingertips.

Conclusion

OK, let’s be honest. You don’t really need fancy gadgets to make a productive home office. But, it’s important to personalize your space to the extent that you feel comfortable in your surroundings.

We don’t work in a building stacked with cubicles for a reason you know. Use these ideas or come up with your own. You’re the boss after all!
